The HC Design IT Series 77F is a large format ferrite based compression driver. The IT Series 77F features a large 77mm (3 inch) commercially pure titanium diaphragm assembly that is closely coupled to a circumferential phase plug. The exit is an industry standard 1.4 inch (35.6mm) design that will mate with most standard bolt on style high frequency horns. The bandwidth is rated at 800Hz to 20kHz. The IT Series 77F is an ideal high frequency driver for use in very high performance sound reinforcement system designs where upper vocal range intelligibility and smooth, extended response are specified. The smooth and controlled amplitude response allows the driver to be used in many applications with minimal equalization. The design of the ferrite magnet structure utilized finite element modeling to substantially reduce weight while maintaining extremely high magnetic energy and sensitivity.
The phase plug design includes accurate path lengths to improve both acoustical summing at the driver exit and to extend high frequency bandwidth. The IT Series 77F also utilizes a very high temperature magnetic fluid in the air gap to eliminate time domain resonances associated with parallel acoustic leakage paths.
The diaphragm assembly is a very high thermal capacity design that produces a full 320 watts of peak power handling capacity. The voice coil is a high density rectangular conductor designed to maximize system conversion efficiency. Crossover point s above 1000Hz will substantially improve driver reliability and signal clarity.
